With more texture and passion than melody, the new single by Dropsonic, titled ‘Honeytrap’ is a gorgeous, dirty and powerful song about the push and pull of desire and tragedy. It’s a song filled with messages that only come from experience. I can’t discern all the lyrics but it’s the guitars that matter most. Frontman Dan Dixon delivers extreme vocals and guitars, fully controlled but still on the edge. Chandler Rentz is the new drummer for Dropsonic, while William Duvall’s rhythm guitar defines the sound of the tune, with catchy riffs.
“Honeytrap” is from the self-titled debut by Dropsonic, due out on May 16 on Spartan Records.
