Tiny Little Ice Cubes: Sweet, Romantic Chill With Gilles Snowcat

Gilles Snowcat Tiny Little Ice Cubes

By Keith Walsh
Sometimes you hear a song and you recognize right away, it has that ‘it’ factor. I’ve been writing about Gilles Snowcat since around 2015, when I reviewed  his album “Mokomoko Collection.” It wasn’t just the European charm that got me excited. It was his sense of humor, his playful creativity and great sense of melody.

It’s been four years since the release of his album, You’ve Been Unboxing Gilles Snowcat. We’ve been in touch, and I’ve been awaiting his new album. Snowcat’s new single “Tiny Little Ice Cubes” has all the elements of a classic tune, Snowcat style: there’s romantic elements, genuine sweetness, sexy vocals by Adriana Dath in a romantic scenario with Gilles, and those cool keyboards by Gilles, who favors the Clavinet. Additional personnel is the great Hetpampa on guitars, Sébastien Bournier of Lunear on bongo, and Brick Bosso on background vocals.

The two B sides are a sweet cover of the Earth Wind And Fire classic “Welcome/Faith,” and then a radio edit of the A side.
