Once in a while a video comes along that has everything: a catchy tune, expertly played, captured smartly, with style. The Peawees, four guys from an Italian military town, deliver a sound that mixes the energy of vintage rock with spaghetti Western guitar themes and brilliant energy. Their recent tune “The Wolf” is exciting on many levels.

Front man Hervé Peroncini gives Mike Ness/Social Distortion vibes, with rhythm guitar, and vocals in English. Stylistically “The Wolf” is loaded with melodic and rhythmic influences from Elvis Presley To Elvis Costello, relying heavily on the backbeat provided by bassist Fabio Clemente and drummer Tommy Gonzalez. Guitarist Dario Persi brings solid accompaniment.

Visually, “The Wolf” references 1960s style, with black and red dominant, and retro production techniques and effects. There’s an authenticity to all of this, from the social concern of the lyrics, to the sincerity of the performances, and especially the passion in Peroncini’s voice.

The Peawees formed in 1995, playing a garage punk rock sound that evolved melodically into a power pop sound incorporating soul, R and B, roots rock. In their 30 year history they have played across Europe and The U.S., and shared stages with The Damned, The Fleshtones, and The Hellacopters.

“The Wolf” is the latest video single from the forthcoming album One Ride, due September 6, on Folc Records in Spain and Spaghetty Town Records in the North America. The video is a Milkit Film Production with direction by Marcello Perego and cinematography by Alessandro Tempestini. A newer single “Banana Tree” was released on June 27 on the streamers but is not yet on Bandcamp.com . On September 7, The Peawees kick off an international tour, starting first in Spain. The Peawees are from La Spezia, Italy.
