It didn’t take long for the use of artificial intelligence in videos to unleash its super creepy potential. In a new animated video created by filmmaker Tawd B. Dorenfeld, Los Angeles based singer/songwriter Harry Cloud flexes his awe-inspiring gift for strange sounds with “A Thin Layer Of Slugs.”

Starting from a simple acoustic guitar riff, the song escalates when Cloud’s edgy soprano comes in. Then his blazing electric guitar kicks in two thirds of the way through, and as the visuals get progressively weirder, it’s a very special moment of sound and vision — though not one for the squeamish.

Gelatinous shapes, flesh-like forms and faces flow into each other. There’s never been a video like this, for better or worse. “A Thin Layer Of Slugs” is an unreleased track, perhaps an outtake from Cloud’s most recent album, 2023’s The Cyst.
