There’s a lovely integrity to the sound of the new song by Elk City, a band out of Montclair, New Jersey. “Strong (You’re Not Alone)” evokes dreamy 60s rock, as well as later shoegaze offerings. Some points of reference may be The Doors, Mazzy Star, Jefferson Airplane and Lush.

Elk City’s “Strong (You’re Not Alone)” Delivers Cool Tranquility With A Nostalgic Flair

Wrapped in a cool, tranquil sound, “Strong (You’re Not Alone)” offers an uplifting message that’s a welcome change from off-the-wall hyper pop and aggressive sounds (though these rock variations have their place, for sure). The psychedelic flavor of this and other works by Elk City invite you to slip away into bliss as you listen.

Renée LoBue sure reminds me of early Grace Slick, and that’s a far out thing!  Elk City also features the instrumental work of Chris Robertson and Richard Baluyut. “Strong (You’re Not Alone)” is from the upcoming album by Elk City. It’s called Undertow and will be here in September from Magic Door Records. Ray Ketchem created the awesome video, and he also recorded, mixed and mastered the single.
